ST. JOHN'S EXTENDS CONTRACT OF NORM ROBERTS

It seems that, much to the dismay of St. John's fans, Norm Roberts is going to the the head coach of the Redstorm for the foreseeable future. St. John's and Roberts Agree To a Renewed Contract (CSTV.com) that spans five seasons. The rollover agreement replaces the orignial five year deal Roberts signed in 2004.

Under Roberts, the rebuilding project in Queens has been rather slow. The Redstorm have yet to participate in either the NCAA Tournament or NIT under his direction and have only qualified once for the Big East Tournament.

Since Roberts first season in 2004-2005, the following players who entered the Redstorm program did not finish their eligibility with St. John's:

Cedric Jackson
Rodney Epperson
Jermaine Maybank
Ricky Torres
Qa'rron Calhoun
Larry Wright
Avery Patterson
Derwin Kitchen
Mike Cavataio

Next season's projected roster has nine of the 11 players in the freshman (2) and sophomore (7) classes.

Juniors: None
Sophomores: Justin Burrell (PF), Malik Boothe (PG), Rob Thomas (F), Ayodele Coker (C), Paris Horne (G), DJ Kennedy (G), Sean Evans (F)
